There are several movies set around golf in some form, and golfers could also be tempted to critique the players and therefore the golf games played in those movies. If you’re a die-hard golfer and always anxious to observe subsequent golf movies, remember your motives. If you’re trying to find instructions, you’ll probably be disappointed. The golfers of flicks never make a nasty swing unless they were alleged to – it’s the magic of Hollywood. But golf movies do have the power to motivate us as golfers, or maybe as would-be golfers.

Hollywood will make a movie about anything – literally, and therefore the sport of golf is not any exception. And, with Hollywood making golf movies, comes the very fact a number of them are good, while others aren't worth watching. This, though, is going to be up to the individual who makes the selection of which movie to ascertain.

We will start with a golf movie starring Kevin Costner and examine it, following it with the Matt Damon, Will Smith entry and find yourself with Adam Sandler. Know this, while these are three golf movies, they're not the sole ones out there or available.

Beginning with “Tin Cup”, we discover a golfing legend but are never really told how Roy McAvoy achieved legendary status. We are informed he's a world-class ball striker who features a knack for never finishing anything.

The fun begins when he meets Rene Russo, an area psychologist. Through a series of trial and error, “Cup”, because the character is most frequently called, finds himself qualified for the U.S. Open. Theoretically, this is often possible, but highly unlikely as cutting the Open is extremely difficult for tour players, much less golf range pros. 

Overall, it’s not a nasty movie. It’s nearly impossible to foresee the fiasco Costner will face once he’s at the Open, or maybe the encouragement he gets from Russo.

Next comes “The Legend of Bagger Vance” where Will Smith helps Matt Damon find himself and what’s important to him through golf. The movie begins with the daddy of Charlize Theron killing himself after building the course, only to possess Depression hit. Theron extorts Jones and Walter Hagen to play during a match tourney. The town leaders enforce an area golfer playing also, with Damon’s character getting rooked into it.

There are not any losers within the movie as all three tie at the top of the play. However, Damon and Theron, who were married before he visited WWI, revisit together. it's presumed they remarry and live happily ever after. Throughout the movie, though, Smith (Bagger Vance) provides spiritual guidance for Damon, and therefore the narrator, Hardy Greaves.

Next up is Sandler’s “Happy Gilmore” a most improbable golf movie as Sandler, a failed ice-hockey player, takes up golf on a lark and finds he’s a natural. However, any golfer attempting to form the shots “Gilmore” makes won't only look ridiculous, but could injure himself within the process. Gilmore’s “driving” style - hopping toward the ball - simply won't work on the golf links because the slightest misstep will see the ball careen who knows where, if the player connects with the ball in the least.

Of course, “Happy Gilmore” isn't alleged to be a significant golf movie. Sandler may be a comedian and therefore the movie shows this quite well. But, for a more serious golf movie, there's a recent one out about Jones, and what he went through.
